US based Texas Instruments (TI) has collaborated with the automotive parts supplier, Continental for mass production of the microcontrollers with Flash technology.

Both the companies will jointly manufacture the 65nm ARM Cortex safety microcontrollers, which are base for the TI's Hercules safety MCU open market products.

Continental Chassis & Safety division Electronic Brake Systems business unit IC development manager Adrian Traskov said that the company is excited to be the first automotive ESC system manufacturer to offer safety features based on TI's 65 nm FLASH technology.

"Developing this complex safety family required close partnership with TI and Continental design teams to render the final system design, IC modeling and simulation, resulting in our final product for the ESC systems," Traskov added.

The Continental MK 100 family of electronic stability control (ESC) systems is based on the Continental processor for advanced control in electronic braking systems (PACE), which has been manufactured by the TI since last 15 years.

Continental MK 100 ESC systems offer safety integration and Continental proprietary safety MCU design with TI's 65nm embedded Flash technology.
